Who We Are:

Oikos (from the Greek meaning a family  home).
“But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are His house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.” – Hebrews 3:6

We are a ministry for single moms. Our fellowship group seeks to be an Oikos/home where single moms and their children can find refuge because the unique concerns they face are being shared in a safe and encouraging atmosphere with the aim to grow together in the hope of Christ.

Our Purpose:

  • Build relationships
  • Create community
  • Reach out in love
  • Invest in single-parent families
  • Kingdom-focused
  • Point to Jesus

So that single moms and their kids enter into and grow in a life-transforming relationship with Christ.

Why We Exist:

In the US (2015), approximately 24 million children were living in single-parent homes (1 out of 3). Single-parent homes are the result of various situations and/or choices, including, but not limited to, the death of a partner, the breakup of a marriage or cohabiting relationship, not married by choice, the deployment of a spouse due to military assignment or employment responsibilities, or the fostering/adoption of a child by a never-married parent.

Struggles faced by single-parents often include loneliness, having no one to share responsibilities and decisions with, an exhausting life-style with no “downtime”, limited finances and new, unfamiliar responsibilities, not to mention the stigma attached to the label “single parent,” even within the body of Christ.

How we work to meet needs:

A Bible study for single moms featuring Christ-centered advice and practical help from renowned Christian counselors, pastors, and teachers. Exploring topics such as discipline, financial pressures, parenting goals, adversity, and finding rest and hope, the videos and workbook address every major single-parenting issue.

Meeting times:

12:30-3:00 pm every 1st and 3rd Sunday at Grace Redeemer Church; childcare and lunch are provided. Click here to RSVP.

Additional fellowship events will be scheduled throughout the year.
