We are delighted that you have been worshiping with us at Grace Redeemer and are interested in becoming a member. The first step is to attend our membership class called Inquirers.

Membership Process

Inquirers class is designed to answer your questions about the Christian faith, introduce you to GRC and our ministries, and inform you as to avenues of service within the church and the local community. Should you choose to pursue membership upon completion of the class, you will be asked to stand for vows during a Sunday worship service. The Grace Redeemer Session has determined that the following steps shall be taken for membership:

  1. Attend Inquirers class
  2. Complete a Membership Application form
  3. Participate in an elder interview
  4. Stand for public affirmation of membership vows

1. Inquirers class

Inquirers is held twice a year and is an in-depth presentation of GRC’s vision, values, ministries and structure. It is a prerequisite for church membership but it’s also generally beneficial to newer attendees. We schedule it in a one-day format in order to minimize impact on very busy schedules. Sign up at the welcome desk to register. Free childcare is provided upon request. If you have any questions, please contact Teresa (

2. Membership Application form

The application is available in the Inquirers manual and should be returned to Teresa Vargas upon completion of the class. No steps are taken to notify your former church or to schedule an elder interview until this application has been submitted.

3. Elder interview

The Elder interview is a casual time of conversation with two elders, where you will have the opportunity to share what God is doing in your life. The elders are also available to answer any lingering questions about theology, Grace Redeemer church and membership.

4. Public vows

Even though a person attends Inquirers and has been interviewed by our elders, he/she is not considered a member of GRC until the membership vows have been affirmed publicly.

Members of Grace Redeemer Church affirm these vows:

Do you acknowledge yourselves to be a sinner in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope except in His sovereign mercy?

Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and depend upon Him alone for salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?

Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will attempt to live in a manner consistent with being a follower of Christ?

Do you promise to serve Christ and His Church by supporting and participating with this congregation in its worship and work to the best of your ability?

Do you submit yourself to the government and discipline of the Church and to the spiritual oversight of this church’s Session, and do you promise to promote and protect its purity and peace?
