Elementary Children (Pre-K through Fifth Grade)

Grace Redeemer Church believes that children are valued members of the kingdom of God. We encourage families to worship together on Sunday morning. Starting at age four children begin to attend worship with their parents. Children’s bulletins are provided during the sermon time. On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month Catechism Club meets during the sermon for PreK – 1st graders. This club teaches the simple questions and answers of the Children’s Catechism which provides a framework for children to understand all they have learned about God. It also provides them with a language of faith and a God-ward focus in life.

Sunday School

Elementary Sunday school classes are taught by a group of committed and loving rotating volunteers. Each class uses age appropriate curriculum called Show Me Jesus (www.gcp.org) which also provides take home sheets for family devotional use. Through the teaching of God’s Word in a relational classroom context, it is our hope that Grace Redeemer children will be instructed and challenged to be Kingdom disciples for Jesus.
 
 
Below are classroom information and the themes taught for each age group.

Pre-school & Kindergarten
Children move in to this classroom the autumn that they are four years old and attending PreK. This age group explores such themes as Jesus is God, God leading his people, Jesus is the Savior, and God keeps all his promises.

Lower Elementary (1st & 2nd Grade)
This classroom uses the Show Me Jesus Younger Elementary Curriculum which explores both New and Old Testament themes of Obeying God, Serving God, Knowing Jesus and Studying God’s Word.

Middle Elementary (3-4 Grade)
Students discover how to worship and enjoy God forever by getting to know His Son and his work. Middle Elementary is designed for interactive learning. Students discover how to enjoy God forever by focusing on biblical themes of worship, grace in the law, missions and Christian service.

Upper Elementary (5th Grade)
This age group uses the Older Elementary curriculum of Show Me Jesus. Over a two year period students study the entire Bible gaining understanding of God’s redemptive plan throughout all of scripture.
