Celebrate Recovery (CR) is in 25,000 churches worldwide (most in the U.S.). Celebrate Recovery is for anyone with the courage to be honest about life’s hurts, habits and hang-ups and willing to open their life to healing and change. Participants open the door by sharing their experiences and hopes with one another. In addition, they become willing to accept God’s grace and forgiveness in solving life’s problems. This ministry is being supported by Grace Redeemer but is available to all people, whether or not they attend our church.
WHAT IS CELEBRATE RECOVERY?
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery ministry based on the Beatitudes. The purpose of CR is to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the 12 steps and 8 recovery principles. By applying these principles we experience freedom from our hurts, habits, and hang-ups creating peace, serenity, joy and a stronger personal relationship with God and others. Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to share struggles and a place where we can take off our masks. A place where you hear the words: “Nobody walks alone.” Celebrate Recovery changes lives!
Please mark your calendars for next Friday, September 29th. We'll have two kickoff meals/gatherings - one for high schoolers and one for middle schoolers. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend this year's launch, where we share a meal, reconnect and talk about the coming year.
Here are the details: the middle schoolers (and parents) will be meeting at GRC in Teaneck and the high schoolers (and parents) will be meeting at the Wang's home.
All visitors and newcomers are invited to a luncheon in Meeting Rooms A & B. Come and meet the pastors and other ministry leaders to learn more about GRC. Lunch will be served immediately following the second service (childcare provided). Email or call office (201.357.4216) if you plan to join us.
In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressured to do everything "right" and raise up "good" children, it's easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas. Join us for this encouraging and equipping simulcast by Christian pastor and parenting leader Paul Tripp. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided and children’s program for nursery to 5th grade children will be offered with advance registration until capacity is reached. The cost to attend is $10 per adult and $5 per child for childcare.
is class is held twice a year and is an in-depth presentation of GRC’s vision, values, ministries, and structure. It’s a prerequisite for church membership, but it’s also generally beneficial to newer attendees. We schedule it in a one-day format in order to minimize impact on very busy schedules. Registration at Grace Online (Forms) or at the Welcome Desk. If you have any questions, please contact Teresa.
We will study the gospel of John using a Bible study guide by Kathleen Nielson. We meet on Monday evenings at 7:30 – 9:00pm and Tuesday mornings at 9:30 – 11:00am. Register by Sept. 3rd at the Info table or at Grace Online. Childcare is available on Tuesday morning upon request for $40 per semester ($14 for each additional child). The Bible study guides are $11. See Donna Crouch or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Oikos is a single mom's ministry providing bible study and fellowship. "Single & Parenting" is a topical bible study focusing on practical issues single parents face from a Christ-centered perspective; study guides are $15. The first meeting is Sunday, September 17. Please rsvp if you plan to join us.
We meet 1st and 3rd Sundays 12:30-3pm. Childcare and lunch are provided. Email Simone Lim or Susan Lindemulder if you have any questions.
Grace Redeemer Church will hold its congregational meeting in the sanctuary. Business to be conducted will include the following: (1) dissolve the pastoral relationship between Associate Pastor Joshua Desch and GRC and (2) developments on 21 Harristown and other related areas of ministry. Should we require a further adjournment of the congregational meeting beyond 9/3, we’ll assemble at the same time and place on the following Sunday, Sept. 10th.
All youths in grades 6 - 12 are invited to a night of food and fellowship. These youth ministry gatherings are open to friends.
Once a month, parents of youth will meet at GRC for small group discussion and fellowship (aka "Parents Pow-wow") at 7:15pm. Date, time and location may change so email for specifics.
Upcoming activities for May include:
- May 12 - New Life Friday Nights (7pm)
- May 19 - New Life Progressive Dinner (7pm): All middle and high school youth are invited for a progressive dinner! Meet at GRC and then travel to 3 di erent homes for appetizers, entree and dessert. Come for the good eating and the fellowship with your peer. RSVP to Zach.
- June 3 - Youth Work Day to benefit July's Bowery Missions trip (9am - 1pm): Our youth are planning a missions trip to the Bowery Mission this summer. In order to raise funds for this e ort, we have planned a work day for Saturday, June 3rd. If you would be willing to be a chaperone/helper for this, please contact Sharon. We need to encourage our kids to get practically involved in gospel service!
This service is focused on intercessory prayer for those who desire to be anointed with oil by the elders, and prayed for by our church. We hope it will allow the church body to become more aware of the struggles that exist within GRC so that we can extend mercy to our brothers and sisters through prayer and support. Please join us even if you prefer not to make your needs publicly known.
Attention Parents! We want to partner with you in receiving your child into the community of faith and learning how to shepherd their hearts. If you would like for your child or children to become communing members of Grace Redeemer, please plan to attend a special ACE/Sunday School hour orientation with your child on October 9th at 10AM. Please bring a check for $15 to the orientation, made payable to Grace Redeemer Church, to cover the cost of the curriculum’s companion book, “The Gospel Story Bible.” This is the only opportunity for the orientation this year, so please sign up today! Email Karen with questions.
If you’ve wondered, “What does baptism mean? Should my baby be baptized? What does the Bible teach? How do I begin my child as an early Christian disciple?” Please consider comingto this class. Email email@example.com to reserve your spot. Note: this class is required for parents who plan on pursuing baptism at GRC. Held in Pastor Peter’s office.
There are many families in the area who are struggling to make ends meet. Because God loves us so, He gave us the most precious gift of Jesus. We can share His love by helping these families. Through our partnership with Center for Food Action and Lighthouse Pregnancy, we are sponsoring several families this Christmas.
Many hands are needed to make this a welcoming event: coordinating gifts, preparing/serving meals, leading worship, etc. Click here to sign up today!
